Artisan Edition - Ceramic Candles
At MAP Studio we wanted to create a series of limited edition collections that focuses on and celebrates Artisan craft. The first in our series is a unique hand thrown ceramic candle made at St. Helena Ceramic Studio, Richmond.
Nestled on the river bank in Richmond upon Thames. St. Helena ceramic studio was founded by artist Christina Gascoigne and has become a well known and loved part of Richmond.
Through the doors of an old boat house, the studio windows look over the river as the daily tide rises and falls, people amble by on their day to day and swans glide past on their daily commute. A truly magical space where time stands still to the thrum of the potters wheel.
The hand thrown ceramic vessels are made with a lightly flecked clay, turned to keep a clean cylinder finish and glazed with the studios signature white and dolomite blue glaze. Each cylinder is stamped with the MAP logo, to mirror the logo on our aromatherapy candle label and finished with a hand poured organic soy wax, essential oil blend to uplift. We called this blend Sevilla Studio after the Orange, Mandarin and Petitgrain combination.
Each ceramic vessel is unique to the artists hand and produced in a very limited run. This is the true version of small batch and individually crafted, that MAP was founded on when creating individual essential oil blends.
