How Does Aromatherapy Work?

So many people asked me this question. So how does it work? What is an Aromatherapy massage? Imagine having a whole hour to yourself in a quiet space resting and breathing medicinal plants where you can completely disconnect from the outside world and get back to a total reset.

An Aromatherapy treatment is a combination of perfumery, herbal medicine and the therapeutic power of touch. This ancient practice has roots in various cultures and is based on the idea that inhaling specific scents can positively impact the body and mind. An aromatherapist will see the patient from holistic point of view, studying carefully what could be impacting the body out of balance.

The therapist will be using a blend of Essential oils to treat the patient, these are made from flowers, twigs, leaves, roots, barks, grass and resin.  Each drop of Essential oil contains therapeutic properties. Different essential oils possess unique characteristics, ranging from calming lavender to invigorating peppermint, allowing practitioners to tailor treatments to specific needs of their patients.

The application of the botanical plants in the body through a gentle massage will benefit immensely the nervous system.,through different stoke techniques the body calms down rising levels of the hormones called Oxytocin and Serotonin helping you to keep a total equilibrium, bring you back to a total reset.

The aroma of the essential oils will also provoke a reaction in our brain as the olfactory bulb gets in contact with the scent that will emit an immediate emotion into our body, more specifically into our nervous system, which regulates involuntary bodily functions like heart rate and digestion.

What is the Outcome of an Aromatherapy treatment?

Expect to be in total awe of relaxation, stress reduction, pain relief, improved sleep quality, enhanced well-being, skin benefits, and emotional balance. Through gentle manipulation and the inhalation of essential oils, it induces a sense of calm, alleviates tension, and promotes better sleep.

The therapeutic aroma of essential oils uplifts the spirit, while the massage techniques improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, leading to physical rejuvenation.

Overall, aromatherapy massage offers a holistic approach to wellness, addressing both physical and emotional aspects, leaving individuals feeling relaxed, revitalised, and emotionally balanced in just one session.
